If you want a daily dose of negativity just watch the national news, regardless of outlet. We see killings, rioting, rising Corona statistics, and on and on. Where does it end? How do you turn it off, get away from it? How do you keep from letting it all get you down? I’m glad you asked.
Turn off the TV. Make up your own Bingo game and play it with the kids. Not techy enough? Try some of the online games and play as a family, helping each other out. Don’t like Bingo? Try a word game like Wordplay or Microsoft word games (free download). Keep score; see who gets the most words, or the finds the most objects in a hidden object game.
But don’t neglect the great outdoors. Remember to use sunscreen and bug repellent to boost the enjoyment factor. Revel in woodland creatures, the sounds of birds, the dam of a beaver, or skipping rocks across a creek or river. Take a picnic lunch of fresh fruit. (Please take your trash home with you or put in a trash receptacle.) Go for a swim. Let the stress roll off of you.
Lastly, don’t believe everything you see in the news. The station manager chooses the news feed that will be aired on their station. Ratings sell and ratings are determined by the number of viewers and how long they stay tuned in. It’s pretty much the same stories every day anyway, so take a break from it. Enjoy your family. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to have fun.
Philippians 4:8–Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Have a blessed day. God promised His children an abundant life. That doesn’t mean material wealth, nor does it mean a life free from problems, but He does promise to give us good things. We just have to remember to look for the good, the positive, instead of the negative.
