Presumptive Tests

Since my work in progress has murder in it, as well as other crimes, and since it takes place in the mid-to-late nineteenth century, I decided to do some research on forensic science in that era. It is important for the police, sheriff, and others involved to be able to solve the crime(s) with the science available to them at the time. So I thought it might be helpful to share my research with other aspiring writers/authors.

I am also open to suggestions from any other writers/authors out there in regards to forensic science. For instance, how long would it take a body to decompose if it was wrapped in burlap and buried about in a hole about five feet deep? How would police identify the body in the mid nineteenth century?

I’m still doing research–a long way from being done.

Blessings.
