Let me start off by saying I believe all sex crimes should be punished to the full extent of the law. I have no tolerance for abuse, especially when it involves a child.
However, we have a society that thrives on notoriety and convenience. There is also a tendency to teach our young people to lie and make up tales, no matter how damaging those tales may be, in order to get our own way, manipulate someone, or destroy someone we don’t like.
I believe that making allegations thirty years after the crime allegedly happened, thus leaving no evidence with which to support the claim, is ludicrous. It becomes one person’s word against another’s. Thus it appears that the sole reason for the allegation is either a personal vendetta or a political ruse.
If Roy Moore had committed these acts nearly thirty years ago it surely would have been made public when he was running as a candidate for Etowah County Circuit Judge in 1994. A background check was done prior to the election. The political arena is the first venue for such allegations when one party is afraid the other party will win the day.
He graduated high school in 1965. One of his accusers says he signed her yearbook and tried to rape her when she was fourteen. I’m guessing that would make her a classmate since most twenty-somethings or older don’t usually sign high school yearbooks. At least they didn’t where I went to school.
I am voicing a plea for common sense in this matter. We used to be a nation that believed a person was innocent until proven guilty. Unfortunately, it seems that this only holds true if you belong to the right party affiliation. We will allow the news media to tell us who is guilty and who is not. We will allow the news media to determine our views instead of watching a person’s character, doing our own homework/research and forming an informed opinion.
1Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.
Proverbs 15:9 The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
Proverbs 15:26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.
Proverbs 17:15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
Thirty two-years ago he married his wife, Kayla. They have three children. There have been no reports of him doing anything inappropriate with his children.
All of his information is available on Wikipedia. Yes, he has been unpopular. Yes, he appears to be ultra right-wing. That is not a crime. It seems that some politicians are trying to bring people out to level accusations because they are afraid of him: afraid he may win the race for senate.
Here’s my final point: my prayer is that if Roy Moore is guilty it will come out; there will be some evidence that somehow miraculously got left behind, undamaged. Nothing is too hard for God. If he is innocent, I pray that all those who are trying to destroy him will themselves reap what they are attempting to sow. God is just and holy. God will win the day.
