Sounding The Alarm—Part 1

Last year I posted a series of articles titled “Satan’s Bid For Your Child.”

This cannot be stated strongly enough. Although we see a lot of good in this world, it is Satan’s world. Yes, he is real, not a funny figure in a suit of red tights holding a pitch fork. He is real, just as God is real. And Satan wants to destroy our children—yours and mine. He wants to destroy your nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren.

When an adult abuses a child in any way, whether sexual or otherwise, Satan is behind it. When we choose not to listen to God, we are listening to Satan’s angels (called demons or devils) by default. There is no middle ground.

We live in a culture that is permeated with sex and violence. Our society feeds on it like the Romans fed on the life-or-death contests in the coliseum. We feed our children war games and games, movies, and music with sexually explicit messages. Is it any wonder our children are getting sexually active while still in elementary school? Is it any wonder we have violence I our schools?

Parents, wise up. Being a Christian parent does not guarantee your child’s safety and well-being. I made that mistake. I won’t go into details, but prayer and church attendance are enough to protect your children. It is a vital start, but it must be accompanied by diligent vigilance over every influence in your child’s life. It must be accompanied by daily devotions with them. It must be accompanied by a relationship with you, the parent in which the child feels they can tell you anything and you will listen carefully to their feelings and what they are going through. Be quick to hear their problems, concerns, fears, etc., and slow to dismiss, slow to blame them, quick to deal with the influences that may be causing the problem. Nurture and love them.

Ephesians 6:4–And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Proverbs 22:6–Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. In other words, pay attention to the direction their heart is leading them, and with instruction and nurturing, use Scripture to turn their hearts to God and His plan. The formula for success is in the Bible. See Proverbs 3:5-10; Joshua 1:8; Psalms 1:1-3.

2 Corinthians 10:1-6–Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you: 2. But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. 3. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4. (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6. And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Ephesians 6:10-18 10. Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15. And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Nowhere is scripture are we directed to remove our armor.

All scripture is from the Authorized King James Version. It is written exactly as God intended for English speaking people. All modern versions have changed the words to make them more modern and to water down the gospel. When the words were changed, so also were the meanings of the verses. God said what He meant, meant what He said. He does not change with the times or culture.

In order to implement the above verses to your life, you must have a relationship with God the father. You must be born again (John 3:3-8); you must live a life of service to him (after you have received Him as your savior: you cannot earn your salvation; it is a free gift).
