The Adventures of the Dye’s Part 1

We spent the summer in Opp, Alabama, visiting our youngest three grandkids. We left there about September 1 to visit Kay’s best friend in Thomasville, NC. We spent a few days there and went to family reunion at Bluestone State Park in Hinton, WV. Our whole lives revolve around family reunion.

When we left family reunion we traveled to Jackson, TN to visit our oldest three grandkids. They are really growing up fast. We want to spend as much time with them as we can before they grow up and leave the nest. We have helped them clean up the yard, get rid of old stuff and clear out buildings. We have taught them how to play a few games and the kids taught us to play a game called Nertz. We taught them to play Back Alley (kind of like Spades, but includes jokers called big and little bloopers which are always the highest trump), Gotcha (kind of a cross between Sorry and Trouble), and Phase 10.

They have their own mini zoo: 2 Capuchin monkeys, 3 Airdale Terriers, 2 standard Poodles, 2 Great Danes with 12 puppies (most of which have been spoken for), 2 horses, a cat, a Macaw, a Cockatoo, and an African Gray parrot. Needless to say, it is never boring at this house!

We left there November 16 and are slowly making our way to Houston, TX to visit my brother and his family for Thanksgiving. We are really looking forward to meeting his wife and mother-in-law. Our trek is taking us down the Natchez Trace Parkway through Mississippi. We have made a lot of stops and I’ll have pictures for you when we get settled in Quartzsite, AZ this winter. We should be there by early December.
