Today’s lesson comes from a verse in Exodus which is repeated in Deuteronomy 6:8, which says, “And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.” Exodus 13:9 reads, “And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes…”
In Exodus 12, Moses spends 51 verses commanding the Hebrews concerning preparing the Passover feast for the very first time. Then in chapter 13, he tells them this will be a yearly observance so you can remember what God has done for you, and so you can teach it to your children. This was done so successfully that today, thousands of years later, through many different times of captivity, enslavement, torture, and even Holocaust, the Israelites still celebrate the Passover just as they did on that first day.
